A rare opportunity to meet a real live artist! For the 7th year, the local artists of Greenwich will be opening their doors for visitors to discover the inner workings of an artist's studio - and the inner workings of their minds!
All are invited to enjoy this FREE annual community event which takes place in scenic Greenwich on Sydney's Lower North Shore. Spend the weekend of 3rd & 4th November exploring 21 sites, including private studios, galleries and home spaces which are usually closed to the public.
On display is a diverse range of works by 25 talented local artists, including oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings, pastel and ink drawings, photographs, bronze, ceramic and wooden sculptures, functional ceramics, pottery, children's book illustrations, hand-printed and hand-painted textiles, jewellery and garden ornaments.
Come along and ask questions, learn about art and how it is made, and even take the opportunity to purchase some fabulous artwork straight from the artist.
This year's showcase includes prestigious prize-winning artists, as well as aspiring artists, including a working architect and a university student in their inaugural shows, and a new voice in children's publishing presenting her original artwork and published books. And one artist, a long-term resident who has made functional ceramics for decades, gives all her proceeds to the charity Mahboba's Promise for Afghan women and children - her garage studio always sell out, so get in early!
The Greenwich Village Arts Trail 2018 is on the first weekend of November, with artworks on display and for sale from 10am-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There are maps and information available on the website www.greenwichvillageartstrail.com.au or look for samples of the artists' work on the Greenwich Village Arts Trail FB and Instagram sites.
Visitors can arrive by ferry, train, or bus and walk between the 21 artist sites or catch the free shuttle bus around the beautiful harbourside suburb. Or come by car as there is plenty of street parking available.
Enjoy a meal at one of the local cafes and or picnic in one of the many local parks.
