The Greenwich Village Arts Trail is off and running once again this year, with 32 artists showcasing their artwork on the first weekend in November, scattered around the picturesque harbourside suburb of Greenwich.

The participants include prize-winning artists and professional artists who have exhibited in prestigious events, plus talented hobbyists presenting their side hustle ‘second careers’. There are also four exciting newcomers this year, adding fresh faces to the open studio event as they present their works, some for the first time in public; Clare Crosswaite, an abstract acrylic painter, Bridget Kennedy, a handmade jeweller, and two photographers with very different styles - Clara Chiu uses nature to create abstract images while James Tyrrell captures wildlife in fascinating close-up.

The Arts Trail is also noteworthy for the generosity of some of the artists. Petrina Slaytor will again donate all of her proceeds to Mahboba’s Promise, an Afghan charity for women and children - get in early as Petrina often sells out of her ceramic tableware goods and garden ornaments very quickly. Marianne Urth, with her colourful sailing-themed paintings and unique hand-crocheted bags, donates to Mary’s House, a women and children’s refuge in North Sydney.
Painter Susan Rothwell is another who donates to charity. She is a renowned architect, twice hung in the Archibald and a long-term Arts Trail artist. Her charity is Youth Insearch which supports kids in need or trouble between the ages of 12 to 25.
Jewellers and children’s book illustrators, screen-printers and landscape photographers, potters and sculptors, along with a plethora of fabulous painters working in acrylic, oil, watercolour, mixed media, encaustic, and ink - all these artworks will be available to view and purchase on the Arts Trail. A fantastic day out for families, with cafes and picnic spots available all around the idyllic harbourside suburb.

Pick up a map from the local Greenwich shops, or online on the website, FB or Insta page to read more about the artists.
Visitors can follow the suggested walk on the map OR catch the free hop-on-hop-off bus courtesy of the Lane Cove Council who generously supports the trail with this donated service. It leaves every 15 minutes from Greenwich Wharf for a loop through the suburb, right up to the No. 1 studio, where you'll find Pete Finlay, a landscape and interior artist.
Studios are easy to spot by the orange flags out the front and there is plenty of parking in the streets - or go green and catch the train or bus.
