An idyllic island-like location
With white sands and an azure blue water backdrop, visitors to the
Green Zebra Restaurant & Bar in Parrearra on the Sunshine Coast, immediately have the sense of having been transported to an idyllic island location, promising relaxation and tranquillity. Theoretically, one is on an island … Kawana Island.
Green Zebra Restaurant & Bar is located on Kawana Island, overlooking the picturesque Double Bay Beach. The calming aura of
Green Zebra Restaurant is magnified by the playful gorgeously coloured decor - most of which resemble ... you've guessed it, zebra stripes.

I just love the green zebra stripes!
An intriguing name -
Green Zebra - where on earth did that originate! The answer is fairly simplistic -
Green Zebra is a variety of
heirloom tomato, nothing more surprising than that! It's a quirky, fun and vibrant name, a name that people will naturally affiliate with food and, as I personally have discovered, a name synonymous with a fabulously popular restaurant, amongst locals on the Sunshine Coast.

Portion of the absolutely moreish menu
Green Zebra Restaurant & Bar has it all, from outdoor alfresco dining areas to private dining and function rooms. The Modern Australian Menu is all created with only the freshest seasonal produce, sourced from local suppliers and producers.
Green Zebra's philosophy is uncomplicated - fresh, healthy and moreish! A team of dedicated chefs show their true passion and creative flair, with food that is freshly prepared in-house daily.

Relaxation and tranquillity - imagine having your special function here
We recently celebrated our daughter's birthday at the
Green Zebra Restaurant & Bar and from the minute we entered this idyllic island-like location, we were impressed with the attention to detail; the ever-present attentive wait staff; and of course, the location. Imagine … waves gently lapping the fringes of white sand …

Waves gently lapping at the shore ...
Green Zebra Restaurant has an extensive Menu, ranging from
Starters/Small Share Plates to
Mains to
Dessert, but what really caught my eye was the
Express Lunch Menu, available every day from 11.30am to 2.30pm. What a fabulous idea - perfect for business lunches (when dedicated office staff don't want to be away from their desks longer than necessary); for retired couples (who need to get home for their afternoon siesta) and even for pals, short on time, but still needing the monthly girly catch-ups.

Quirky and fun decor
Back to our birthday lunch! For starters we shared a
Triple Cheese Garlic & Herb Bread, with gruyere, cheddar and parmesan $9.90 - scrumptious and quite simply moreish was the overall verdict.

Quite simply moreish
Our mains varied between the most delightful
BBQ Haloumi salad with saute sweet potato, chickpeas, cashews, avocado salsa, apple chutney and lemon (part of the premium lunch deal); and the
Greek plate of chicken and lamb souvlaki, Haloumi, Greek salad, soft pita, hummus and tzatziki (also part of the premium lunch deal). The Premium Lunch Deal is 2 courses for $35.90 and 3 courses for $42.90.
Verdict: My choice was the BBQ Haloumi salad and without a second's hesitation will definitely return to relish it a second and even a third time.

My most delectable BBQ Haloumi salad
Dessert - my favourite part of the meal. My choice was the
Crème Caramel served with strawberries, double cream, almond tuille and vanilla bean ice cream - an absolute delight.
Belgian chocolate brownie served with vanilla bean ice cream, roasted macadamias, fresh raspberries and Chantilly cream was the birthday girl's choice for dessert and the fact that the 'brownie' was the reason for her returning to this restaurant, surely speaks for itself. All desserts are $14.90 per person. I did spy other tables ordering
Dessert Tasting Platters, which is for a minimum of two people and consists of
Brownie/Crème Caramel/Pavlova/and Sailor Jerry's rum and raisin pudding. Mental note to self - dessert tasting platter to be on the cards for a future visit - the more desserts, the merrier, I say!

The birthday girls absolute 'must-have' - Belgian chocolate brownie
