Brisbane is one of Australia's most biodiverse capital cities with an abundance of rich bushlands, wetlands, and parks in natural environments some close to the banks of the curving Brisbane River and waterways. Most suburbs have child and dog friendly parks or conservation areas set aside for their resident's enjoyment.
This is a chance to show other Brisbanites your suburb's secret assets and treasure trove afternoon getaways. I have a fascination with trees and tend to take photographs of different types of trees or the unique way the tree has grown over its life span.
If you are looking for a particular type of park, the BCC website has a page set aside for parks in Brisbane. You may be looking for dog off-leash parks, active parks, alcohol, park facilities, botanic, camping or parks that are suitable for canoeing and kayaking and this website can assist you in choosing the area most suitable for your needs.
Don't forget some of our beach suburbs like Manly, Wynnum, Southbank and Nudgee where the salt water meets the land and many go to feel the sand between their toes or the water on their feet.
There are so many beautiful areas around Brisbane that your biggest hurdle will be trying to decide which photograph to enter in the competition. So, now is the time to grab your camera, explore Brisbane and you will be surprised with the natural beauty Brisbane has to offer not only to the tourist but also to the resident as you become the ambassador to our beautiful city.
