Green Friday is unashamedly flipping the way we shop. They are changing the narrative this year as they rebel against mass consumption and stay passionate about sustainably-sound brands with purpose. November is a key growth month for Australian retail as it draws closer to the festive season. It has become a critical period for retailers but not all of them are thinking about the sustainability of the planet.
Green Friday will run concurrently with Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales from 26-29 November 2021, so shop GREEN and find the things you love at Green Friday. Working only with sustainable brands, GF is all about conscious consumption. It's more than a shopping event. It's a movement to shop with consideration and mindfulness. subscribe to stay in touch for updates. Some of the sustainable stalwarts partaking in Green Friday 2021 so far include Flora & Fauna, The World's Biggest Garage Sale, Frank Green, Releaseit, Glamcorner and The Well Store.
You'll find green home products, sustainable fashion, recycled accessories, ethical brands, eco-friendly cosmetics, and a whole lot more when the floodgates are opened on the website on the aforementioned dates. Resist if you will, the November sales sprint, to slowly (and consciously) peruse sustainable and ethical brands. Flora & Fauna (Australia's largest eco store) creative director Julie Mathers is taking to Green Friday preparation with aplomb, backing the initiative wholeheartedly. "It's a great opportunity to highlight conscious and considered shopping during the biggest shopping weekend of the year. There are so many smart choices customers can make over that time whether it be plastic-free, locally made, reusable, refillable, organic etc," says Julie.
Each collaborating brand is forging ethically-curated specials or initiatives during the 4-day period. For example, Flora & Fauna will take 50% off lots of great skincare, makeup and home products; all vegan, cruelty-free, and better choices like for example, a plastic-free shampoo bar, compostable dishcloth or refillable makeup. F&F will be donating $1 from every order placed on the Friday to plant trees with Greenfleet and regenerate Australian native forests.
Fellow collaborator Yasmin Grigaliunas, CEO and Co-Founder of The World's Biggest Garage Sale adds, "our mission is to change hearts and minds about the value of dormant goods and within that, challenge consumers to shop mindfully, consciously and sustainably. We know that it is the time of year for shopping up a storm and stocking up on gifts, but if every person just took one second to rethink and to purchase one secondhand gift, just imagine the positive impact we could have on the planet and on our wallets. We will be offering 50% off a selection of incredible re-loved, remade and repaired products, from homewares, electronics, stationery and more. We believe passionately that there is a better way and that we can create a sustainable future for people and the planet."
