If you're up for a slightly alternative experience to pass the hours of any Saturday morning, head on down to West End for the popular Green Flea Community Markets.

Locals and otherwise gather every Saturday morning for a positively hippie concoction of food, fresh produce, flowers, plants, cosmetics, handmade goods, bric-a-brac, clothing, jewellery, music and everything else under the sun. Keep an eye out for the Hungarian food caravan, complete with a felt hat-wearing chef, jewellery made out of lego, or twelve roses for $5.

Still not convinced this isn't just another weekend flea market? Every second month, the West End sports club, conveniently situated in the centre of the bustling market place, plays host to a thriving vintage clothing trade. Privately owned " A Frock Affair " provides literally metres of racks of genuine, high quality vintage garments, shoes, bags and jewellery all at very competitive prices. Plus, there's the sports bar appropriately located downstairs (next to the ATM) for the ladies' significant other.

Hippies and bartering not your thing? Never fear; for there are countless coffee and quality food outlets scattered under the many enormous trees and along the banks of the neighbouring Brisbane River. Perfect for a relaxed Saturday morning breakfast, brunch or lunch; a very fitting setting for the up-coming summer months.

The Green Flea Community Flea Markets are held every weekend at Davies Park, on the James Street corner of Montague Road. The action kicks off from 6am and continues until 2pm. BYO shopping bags.
