This has to be one of my favourite hotels in Geelong. We often book a table here for family functions. They have an amazing choice of meals on the menu, and their service is outstanding.

We have celebrated at least three birthdays at the Great Western Hotel. It is quite central for everybody, as we have family at Batesford, Corio, North Shore and Warralilly.

I often meet two of my friends here for a meal before we head out for the night. You can dine in the bar or the bistro / dining area. There are bar meals at bar prices. We have ordered meals from the Bistro Menu and eaten at tables in or near the bar area. We have often stayed on after our meal and just chatted to people in the bistro or the bar area after our meal. There is a constant flow of people in and out, dining in, having a drink at the bar. It's a very friendly atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night.

Its quite a large hotel with plenty of room for dining. There is a big bar, with lots of tables around the bar area and in another smaller room beside the bar. There is a TAB and a drive through bottle shop. There is a children's entertainment area near the dining room. Oh there is also a beer garden and a smokers area too.

The kitchen is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Meals range from your classic pub meals to steak, seafood, warm chicken salad to penne bolognaise.

Some of your menu choices - salt and pepper calamari, scotch fillet steak, pork rib cutlets, all served with fresh salad and chips, or vegetables.

The description of their food is enough to make you hungry. Chicken Scallopini - pan seared chicken medallions cooked in a light white wine creamy mushroom sauce. Now that sounds yummy.

I usually go for roast of the day, chicken parmigiana or chicken schnitzel. Sometimes I like to try something different. So maybe next time I dine there I will try the chicken scallopini.

There is a good range of food on the Children;s Menu. Children can choose from fish and chips, penne bolognaise, grilled sausages and chips, or chicken nuggets and chips. Some children prefer just a bowl of chips, and that is also a menu option for children. Children can order a dessert which is generally ice cream and topping. Meal prices for children range from $6.50 for a bowl of chips, to $8.50 for fish and chips.

Great Western Hotel caters for Vegetarian and Gluten Free diets. Menus indicate foods that are Gluten Free or that are Vegetarian.

Come for a meal, for the great atmosphere, friendly service and delicious, affordable meals. You will always come away feeling well satisfied with the size and price of your meal. The food is well presented. If it looks good that's half the battle.

I would recommend the Great Western Hotel for a meal, lunch or dinner, with prices that won't hurt your wallet, and they provide great friendly service as well. Enjoy a meal and stay for a while. Staff are friendly and there are lots of tables in the bar area and in small rooms beside the bar area if you want to linger on, and have a few more drinks.

Remember to watch your drink intake or have a designated driver, as The Great Western Hotel is a fair way from the city, so if you intend to head into the city, you may need to get a taxi or get your sober friend to drive. In all activities that we undertake these days there is an emphasis on safety. So don't drink and drive. Get your designated driver to drive you all around or hail a taxi.
