Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a recessive genetic condition affecting children and adults. While CF affects a number of organs within the body, it predominantly affects the lungs and pancreas and repeated infections can cause irreversible lung damage and death.

While the cause of CF has been identified, a cure has not yet been found and doctors and scientists are working to find a solution. Funded by the CFA Research Trust, much work has already been done and improved treatment means that most people with CF are able to lead reasonably normal and productive lives. Cystic Fibrosis organisations across Australia provide support and services to those with CF, their families and carers. Services include counselling, workshops and seminars, case management and home care services amongst others.

In support of this, Cystic Fibrosis Australia is running Great Strides for CF, which is a series of fun runs and walks which aim to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis, to enable them to continue to provide essential programs and services to the CF community.

In 2017, there will be three Great Strides events in South Australia.
