It's WA Mental Health Week, an event that's celebrated each year in October around World Mental Health Day on October 10. Given how critical the early years are for lifelong brain development and functioning, learning, and wellbeing, the theme for Mental Health Week 2021 in Western Australia will be: Mental health starts with our children. Being creative, singing, dancing, listening to music or playing an instrument can be very therapeutic - it fuels the soul, helps shake out negative feelings, and can renew hope and optimism.
The Great Op Shop Shindig is a free fun event that celebrates and shines a light on Mental Health Week, and will be held on Friday 15 October 2021 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm AWST, at The Rise, 28 Eighth Avenue, Maylands. Register here to attend this free event. As an op shop shindig, put together your best fabulous and funky outfits from the op shop, and get creative. An evening of music, dancing, games, food, and prizes awaits. If you don't have op-shop clothing, just wear whatever makes you comfortable and join the party. It's a time to play, shake loose, have fun, boost your mood and bust a move.
