Situated approximately 300 kilometres from Adelaide is the township of Quorn and its newest motel accommodation Great Northern Lodge. The motel offers both single and double rooms as well as ground-floor and loft apartments. We pre-booked the standard loft via their website, but, surprisingly, were upgraded to the premier loft on arrival.
Our newly refurbished apartment had modern interiors with an extremely large doorless ensuite bathroom. And, yes, I mean it was enormous in size! Can you imagine a shower for two? Just have a look at the photo.
The lounge area and kitchenette downstairs were spacious too, as well as the loft bedroom which consisted of a very comfortable double bed. Our apartment also had a covered carport making it a pleasant experience getting into the car when the temperature soared in the far north.
If you wish to cook up a storm and find the kitchenette slightly inadequate, you're more than welcome to take advantage of the shared BBQ facility within the common area. There's also a Tesla charging point for those who are fortunate enough to be able to make use of it.
Full of history, this small town in the Flinders Ranges is definitely worth a visit, and I hope you'd consider the Great Northern Lodge when you do. Rates start from $80 for a room and $140 for an apartment. Bookings can be made via their website.
