Built in American Art Deco style has been a distinctive part of the Newcastle skyline since 1938. Although the building is still under renovation, the ground floor bars and dining area have opened for business. The owners, Ben McBeath and Myles Plenty, have succeeded in creating a modern space that is mindful of and sympathetic to heritage details such as the aboriginal motifs in what is now the sports bar.

The menu includes share dishes, burgers, salads and the usual pub offerings of steak and schnitzel. Wine is available by the glass or bottle, they serve cocktails, beer, ciders and spirits.



The lunchtime specials for $15 each during weekdays are great value. They have children's meals and weeknight deals such as steak on Mondays, Tuesday burgers and Wednesday schnitzels on Mondays and Tuesdays, happy hour 5pm-7pm serves up $5 schooners, wine and sparkling.





There is a small gaming area, live music on weekends and plenty of comfortable seating for groups as well as couples. Future plans over the next eighteen months for renovation include 100 four star rooms, a rooftop pool, rooftop bar area, large commercial kitchen, ballroom and a function area.
