I escaped to Sydney over 11 years ago and haven't looked back since. I enjoy going to cafes, local markets and festivals, and finding the best views in town for free. Visit my twitter page: https://twitter.com/sydneyonabudget

Enjoy these Yoga and Pilates class offers for new customers
Do you feel bored with exercise or want to stay active without spending a mint? It's worth shopping around and trying some new classes, especially while the bad weather keeps us indoors and clutching for our hot water bottles. These studios have affordable offers for new customers and will not only keep you warm and toasty but will also renew your enthusiasm for taking care of your mind and body.

FIVE DOCK

Kefi Studio Pilates

Kefi is a newly opened pilates studio with daily classes running from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and 6am - 10am on weekends.

Their current offer for new customers is simply amazing - five classes for $35! It is a steal and likely won't stay around so make sure you take it up while you can. The deal is redeemable for up to two weeks after your first class.

Their studio runs classes of approx 20 people and is typically 45 minutes in duration. This is all the time you'll need to warm up your muscles and get some much-needed stretching and cardio into your day. This was the first time I tried Pilates and found it a welcoming environment as a newbie. The trainers are super friendly and approachable; always encouraging you to go at your own pace and offering assistance if you're working out with an injury and/or are pregnant. If you're new to Pilates or the machines, let the trainer know and they can help you with making adjustments. Wearing socks with a grip is a requirement, you can also buy some there if you happen to forget.

Studio Arise
CHATSWOOD

Studio Arise

I've been curious about aerial yoga for a while and went in search of a class on the MindBody app. Before long, I signed myself up to Studio Arise which offers a very competitive three classes for $59 deal to newcomers. I tried their restorative class as an easy entry point. It was a good choice, with most poses and stretches taking place fairly close to the ground while I became familiar with the hammock. The studio has around 10-12 hammocks and feels intimate and relaxed. After the soothing first class where I learned how to cocoon myself, I tried a more active class to test myself a bit more. With the helpful guidance of the teacher, I managed to get into a trickier pose where I hung upside down much like a cheeky bat, secured by the silky purple of the hammock before turning myself back up and trying the next move. I surprised myself at how much I could do once I was shown how to artfully enter each pose. Aerial yoga will help you achieve poses you wouldn't have imagined doing and will increase your flexibility with the assistance of the hammock to support you. I highly recommend it, especially if you want to add a new twist to your yoga or Pilates practice.

You can bring your own yoga mat or use one from the studio. You will also need to wear a shirt with sleeves - you'll understand why when you start doing the poses.

Become acquainted with the serene studio of In Yoga for two weeks with their introductory offer. You can take an unlimited number of classes for a mere $49 - again that's unlimited for two weeks!. You'll be an illuminated yogi in no time.

The studio teaches mainly Vinyasa yoga in the morning and early evening making it ideal if you work in the city. Online classes are also an option for members. Vinyasa yoga focuses on creating a flow of movement. It's active enough that you will feel the meditation at the end is well earned but is adaptable for most people to master. You can also try yin yoga for a slower-paced session. My Vinyasa class started with a thoughtful Sanskrit quote and was soundtracked with peaceful music to move through the poses to. The room was mildly heated for comfort, helping me to warm up without the usual beads of sweat typical of a hot yoga session.

It is a classic Sydney yoga class as you can experience it within a unique studio space that is hard to find in the CBD. The studio includes lockers and changing stations upstairs and even a rooftop garden. You will also have access to complimentary mats and props for use during your classes.
