Rachel Wallach has a successful career writing romantic messages for greeting cards, but her own love life is virtually non-existent. Her elderly grandmother, Goldie would like to change that. She and her old friend, Ida, a former matchmaker, hire Ida's granddaughter, Julia, who runs an online dating site for women, to find Rachel a nice girl. Julia has problems of her own, with wealthy parents who have disowned her for being a lesbian, but she pitches in to help and never expects to fall for Rachel herself.

Great Bones is a sweet lesbian romance written by Lynn Ames, the best-selling author of the Kate and Jay series and other novels, and is her first foray into romantic comedy.

There were plenty of funny moments, and clever lines, but a fair few emotional moments too. This book will probably bring a tear to the eye of dog lovers as Rachel, despite her lifelong fear of dogs, takes on the responsibility of caring for a Golden Retriever cross when her elderly neighbour has a stroke. The interfering grandmothers were a hoot, and the romance itself was heartwarming and has a happily ever after ending.

There are no sex scenes or strong language in this one, just a warm fuzzy story that could easily be enjoyed over a weekend or a lazy Sunday.
