Cocky Wants a Cracker and a Devonshire Tea

Grants on Sherbrooke

Situated at the entrance to Sherbrooke Forest, Grants On Sherbrooke is a quaint licensed cafe and souvenir shop with a difference. What Grants on Sherbrooke is famous for is the bird feeding area in its adjacent carpark. It is the only place in Victoria you can legally pay a small fee for some bird seed and feed the magnificently coloured rosellas and cheeky cockatoos yourself.

Expect the cockatoos and rosellas to land on you, fight over you, and claw their way over you. The cockatoos won't hesitate to literally flock you as you enter their arena. Be warned they can be boisterous. So make sure you have your long sleeve shirt on as well as your camera ready to capture some fantastic shots.

Once you are finished playing with the birds you can enjoy a warm drink and a Devonshire tea. You can then burn off the scones and cream strolling one of the numerous walking tracks throughout the majestic Sherbrooke forest. Feel dwarfed by the surrounding forest as mountain ash trees tower up to 100 metres above your head.

The Dandenong Ranges are about 1 hour from Melbourne on the outskirts of the eastern suburbs.
