The Granny Smith Festival is an annual festival held in Eastwood, aiming at commemorating Maria Ann Smith, aka 'Granny' Smith, who, back in 1868, 'accidentally' grew the first batch of little green apples that bear her name. This has provided the Ryde-Hunters Hill area with great prosperity.
The festival has been running since 1985, and is one of Sydney's biggest street festivals - including a street parade, carnival rides, market stalls, live entertainment, and fireworks at night.
The festival begins at 9 am and concludes at 8 pm on Saturday, the 20th of October. This special event promises to bring fun for the entire family.
