Now in its 30th year, the annual Smith Festival will be held on Saturday 17th October 2015. Each year the festival attracts more than 90,000 people across the day. It is a great community festival supported by local businesses, sporting and service organisations, schools and the wider community.
I've been to many fairs and markets and let me assure you, Granny Smith Festival is not your 'little' average community fair with home-baked scones and jam, in fact, the scale of this Spring festival is huge! There are famous street parades, carnival rides, show bags and entertainment with 60 acts on 4 stages!
The Grand Parade starts off at 9.30am and you will see the streets of Eastwood transformed into a swirling sea of colour and sound featuring marching bands, community floats, street performers, dancers and the Festival's 'Sweetie Pie' mascot.
For the foodies, this Festival is the perfect reason for you to sample and enjoy some of the mouth watering gourmet street food, country-style cooking, artisan desserts, home-baked apple pies, refreshing apple cider and sweet toffee apples offered by the Ryde districts communities.
There will be clowns and fairies wondering around the festival. At the Core Area, kids of all ages will be delighted with all the carnival rides, jumping castles and ponies rides. This year there will be an animal petting farm where children can get up close with baby animals, which they can feed and pat.
