Located on the busy Gallery Walk on Mt Tamborine, Granny Macs is a café and souvenir shop which also sells a huge range of confectionery, including English and Dutch lollies, gluten and sugar-free treats, ice cream and macadamia nuts. The main attraction, however, is the fudge. Oh, the fudge!
There are dozens of delicious flavours from the traditional such as chocolate, vanilla and Russian caramel, to the more unusual, like passionfruit or fairy floss. Customers can try small samples before making a selection.
Chocolate raspberry swirl fudge, as nice to eat as it is pretty to look at.
We sampled the pumpkin pie and lavender flavours before finally deciding on one piece of chocolate fudge, one of ginger, and one of raspberry chocolate swirl.
Chocolate
Raspberry chocolate swirl tasted more of raspberries than chocolate, which being a berry fan I loved. The plain chocolate was what you'd expect, a traditional milk chocolate fudge. The ginger was interesting because it tasted of ginger without being too spicy and had little pieces of candied ginger on top. All three flavours had a lovely creamy texture. The fudge is very rich so you don't need to eat much of it at once to feel satisfied.
The ginger was particularly tasty.
All fudge is made fresh on the premises and the staff will cut pieces to suit your needs. They will also make bonbonnieres or gift boxes for weddings and other special occasions.
If you're visiting Mt Tamborine I would definitely recommend a stroll down the Gallery Walk with a stop off at Granny Macs for some delicious fudge.
