Ewe must not miss this farm. Set high on a hill with beautiful views of paddocks and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, is a fun place to spend a couple of hours.

Situated on 80 acres, is a Certified Organic sheep dairy producing hand crafted cheeses, gelato and yoghurt.

If you're visiting between October and March, be sure to visit in the afternoon as the sheep milking demonstration takes place from 3pm.

Our guide was informative and willing to answer any questions. The whole process usually takes 50 minutes – 10 minutes to load the sheep, 20 minutes to milk and 20 minutes to disinfect and clean.

The cellar door offers cheese and wine tasting and the opportunity to view the cheese making process through a large glass window.

The rich and flavourful sheep cheese tasting may include White Pearl, a light fresh curd freshly marinated in olive oil, Lemon Myrtle and pepper; La Mancha, a cheese that has matured for 20 months and rubbed with organic olive oil weekly; and Blondie, a light cheese with aromas of truffle and mushroom.

Sheep cheese has many benefits including that 98% of dairy intolerant people can consume sheep milk and the milk is rich in vitamins and minerals and can contain up to twice as much calcium as cow's milk.

If you have time, relax on the large verandah and try some of the menu items from the onsite cafe. There is something to suit all tastes. The Mutton Kransky Dog is served in a baguette with Grandvewe cheese. The Kransky is smoked and handmade from organic mutton raised on the farm. Other items include platters, homemade toasties, Devonshire tea, fudge and gelato.

40 minutes from Hobart, this idyllic farm respects sheep and their environment, providing an ewe retirement village for the sheep who are too old to produce milk.

The hours vary depending on the time of year:
September - May: 10am - 5pm, 7 days a week (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
June - August: 10am - 4pm, 7 days a week
