Made by 'Grandma', just like home
While out walking I stumbled across this café and bakery in the middle of industrial Alexandria. Feeling peckish, but a little early for lunch, I popped in to see what was on offer.
I was very taken with the pre-made dinners and very cheap dips and desserts. Had I had my car, I'd have stocked up for the freezer, as they all looked homemade with plenty of vegetables, unlike the commercial offerings from the supermarket.
If you are after biscuits, there are a myriad to choose from. Great gift offerings too, of lemon butter and jams.
They even stock lentils and pastry if you want to whip something up yourself.
The smell of the Moroccan pie was too alluring, so I ordered one and was pleased that it was packed with meat and vegetables, that were still crisp enough to have a little texture and flavour.
I'm keen to return at lunch time to sample the full menu, and stock the freezer with some healthy emergency meals. So for home style cooking, head to Grandma's Little Bakery for a pleasant escape from the busy streets outside.
