In 1901, a railway refreshment room was constructed near Brisbane Central train station. This establishment underwent many changes over the next century, emerging in 2005 as the Grand Central Hotel, a hotel, restaurant, gaming venue, bar and liquor store.
This establishment has three main areas. Fihelly's Bar, open from 8.00am until late, is a relaxed, friendly bar where patrons can enjoy a meal or watch sport and world events on the big screen TV. Platform Bar is a more sophisticated option with an extensive menu of boutique beers, cocktails and wines. Platform Bar is open for lunch and dinner from midday Monday to Saturday. And the Dining Car, a railway car themed eatery that recalls the establishments early days, provides an intimate atmosphere for meals or events.
Grand Central Gaming Parlour provides customers with TAB facilities, keno and a selection of features games.
The Grand Central Hotel also houses a liquor store, Grand Central Cellars, which offers a range of top shelf brands as well as the standards. Grand Central Cellars is open Monday to Sunday; see the website for opening hours.
