Situated in historic Castella Street in Lilydale, and sandwiched between Melba Park and the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum is the Gracious Grace cafe.

It is a very bright and airy space with a very modern appearance. A floor to ceiling glass wall gives a view to the outside al fresco dining area and adds to the brightness.

My visit was just for an afternoon coffee and scone. My coffee was nice and hot as requested and I ran out of scone before I ran out of jam and cream.

The jam was delicious raspberry and the cream just had the right amount of sweetness. It was my second visit for afternoon tea in a week and Gracious Grace seems to be a popular place for friends to catch up for coffee.

I had dined there before, with a large group for dinner and was very happy with our meal. We had good service considering our numbers.

There is an outdoor dining area at the rear which overlooks Melba Park. It is a very quiet and peaceful environment to enjoy coffee or dining with friends.

For those who like an al fresco experience watching the passing parade of Castella Street, there are two small tables on the footpath.

They are open for breakfast and lunch every day and for dinner on Wednesday to Sunday.

Monday to Saturday they open at 8.00 am and on Sundays open at 9.00.

Closing times are Monday and Tuesday at 4.00 pm. and Wednesday to Sunday at 8.00 pm.

The menu is not large, but to me, that means that all ingredients are fresh.

Gracious Grace is next to the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum connected with an internal walkway. So before or after your coffee, take in some local history.
