Guts, stamina, dedication, power. You'll need all four to be crowned "Most Graceful Girl"
A one-off movie (documentary) screening in support of The Kids' Cancer Project. Head to HOYTS Eastland - 3, 171-175 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood on Monday 14 December 2015 at 6.30pm. $20 per ticket to be pre-purchased only.
Winner of the 2015 best documentary at the Melbourne Film Festival, catch this screening on this one night only to show your support. 10% of ticket sales will be donated to the charity and donations on the night will also be gratefully accepted. A minimum number of 65 tickets needs to be pre-purchased by 7th December for it to go ahead successfully and no one will be charged if the minimum number is not met. Now that would be a shame wouldn't it? I'm sure we can all rally around for the kids and head over to the cinema for a good cause, have a good time, and catch an award winning film at the same time. It may well be the best 'feel good' Christmas present to ourselves. If you absolutely cannot make it on the night, you can still help and support this cause with a donation. Let's make this a success!
Graceful Girls is a 95 minute long documentary about the physically demanding beautiful world of calisthenics. Most importantly it's about a 26 year old primary school teacher Brianna Lee. Having been a 3 time Graceful Girl runner-up, she dreams of one last try for the crown, but time is running out. It's a young woman's sport. With the aid of legendary coach Diane Synnott she enters this prestigious event where the competition is fierce.
The Most Graceful Girl competition is held in regional Ballarat annually. A discipline (calisthenics) unique to Australia, the elements of ballet and gymnastics combine with colourful costumes and superb choreography. This charming feature film debut from Olivia Peniston-Bird is filled with larger-than-life characters and some of the best rivalries between contestants. You'll be the observer like a fly on the wall getting some insights into this little known world of competitive calisthenics.
