The menu boasts a huge selection of cheeses from Australia and all over the world. Availability is dependent on season, however, you'll always be spoilt for choice with a range of traditional well-known cheeses, mixed in with some more unconventional options.

Come with friends, platters are for sharing amongst 2 or more people. There are a number of platters to choose from, including a make-your-own cheese board where you can choose any of the number of cheeses on offer. It might be a difficult task to narrow it down. Luckily for those who are a bit more indecisive, there are a range cheese boards already picked by the fromager. If you want to mix it up a little there are charcuterie and antipasto boards with a range of gourmet produce to match.

Also on the menu is a range of entrees and mains. Soups, meat, and fish dishes are available for those who aren't so into cheese. There is also mac and cheese, and I'm not talking the stuff you get from the supermarket. This is the adult version of a childhood dish, which includes a 4 cheese mac and cheese, or for a little more adventure, with Italian sausage and mushroom.

Now, let's not forget about the cheese fondue. There are 3 types of fondue to choose from: goats cheese fondue, truffle cheese fondue, or blue cheese fondue. To match you can choose the standard or vegetarian dipping options, which include such things as cured meats, grilled prawns, roasted chat potatoes, figs, eggplant, zucchini, country style bread and lavosh.

Truffle Cheese Fondue

We ordered the truffle cheese fondue with the vegetarian pairing. The fondue comes in a small pot filled with delicious, bubbling cheese, kept warm with a tea light. To match was an assortment of vegetables, potatoes and breads. The potatoes were perfectly roasted and tasted amazing. They went perfectly with the silky truffle fondue. On the side we also ordered a mixed antipasto and two cheese board, which had triple cream, and gouda cheeses with a range of antipasto to match.

All this talk about cheese and we haven't even mentioned the wine list yet. Items on the menu are matched with a suggested wine. Wines come from around the world, including our own local wine regions and well-known regions in France, Italy, New Zealand, and beyond. It's tough choosing with approximately 250 wines to choose from. They can be ordered by the glass or by the bottle. The waiters are happy to help you pick a suitable wine for your taste and order, so don't be afraid to ask.

GPO cheese and wine room is a must for lovers of gourmet. The only disappointment is having to go home.
