I love visiting new and interesting places, trying different types of food and shopping for unique little things :)

In today's busy life, there are many a times where one longs for some relaxation. One way of attaining it is at the Lotus Room at Govinda's Vegetarian Restaurant. Situated on Darlinghurst Road in Darlinghurst, this little gem of a place holds Kirtans (yoga chanting) every Wedesday evening (7 pm - 8pm) and on Saturdays and Sundays (6:30pm - 8 pm). Kirtan is defined by Govinda's Restaurant as a "participatory music experience of sacred mantras and devotional chants performed in a call and response style which involves the audience in the performance."
My husband and I attended a Kirtan session last week. A $10 fees entitles you to the Kirtan as well as dinner upstairs at the Restaurant. The Lotus Room was full by the time the Kirtan started. The whole experience was absolutely divine. The atmosphere was soothing and the chanting accompanied by music was most relaxing. By the time the session was over, my husband and I felt peaceful and calm.
We then followed the group upstairs for a buffet style dinner. The spread was by no means lavish, but was definitely some of the most delicious Indian food I have had in Sydney. Neither was it too spicy nor was it too oily. Everything was cooked to perfection. There were about 10 dishes including 2 kinds of rice, salads, a couple of starters, a pasta dish and a few mains. A heaven for vegetarians!
The Kirtan at the Lotus Room with its inclusive dinner for $10 is a definite bargain. So if you are in the area and want to de-stress, this is the place for you!
