The Government House in Western Australia is the official residence of the Governor of Western Australia (currently, Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC), and is potentially one of the most beautiful buildings in the entire State, carrying momentous historical significance and exceptional heritage-enriched value. From the East front, the Government House looks like one of the English countryside Castles with centuries of history and profound ancient roots.

The two storey mansion is situated right in the heart of Perth's CBD between St Georges Terrance and the Swan river. There are approximately 41 rooms across both floors, providing the viewer a fascinating experience of travelling back in time. The ballroom's atmosphere reminds its visitor of a 19-century ball, possibly from one of Dostoevsky or Tolstoy novels. The mansion is surrounded by the absolutely astonishing and immaculately manicured gardens, perfect for any memorable photo opportunity, including weddings.

Every year the Governor's office opens these fascinating chambers to public for viewing and touring. This year, the Government House runs its open day on 16 October 2016 from 11am to 3pm, where any interested member of the public could take him or herself through the famous rooms of the heritage-listed mansion or the historic gardens. There will be volunteer guides to assist you find your way around and answer your queries.

Free entertainment will be on offer in the Ballroom and in the Grounds, in addition to a number of community-based organisations which will be supplying the general public with information about their establishments from their numerous booths.

Come along, bring your picnic and enjoy! Do not forget your camera and, of course, practise your curtseys in case you see a Queen!

Save the day.
