Learn about the workings of the house

As part of Open State 2017, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le invite you to come and see Government House during its open day on Sunday the 8th of October 2017 between 10am and 4pm.

You will have the opportunity to view the public rooms, learn about the workings of the house, and explore the gardens. Government House staff and volunteer guides will be available to answer any questions you may have while Friends of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens will be conducting guided garden tours. Entry to the house and tour of the gardens are both free for the public to enjoy on the day.

I had the privilege of attending the previous open day in May, and was especially impressed by the State Dining Room table with all its silver and crystal set as though ready for a formal dinner. The gardens were beautiful too, and I personally learned a lot from the guided tour.
