Dust off your gumboots and head to the Scenic Rim for a fun outing with family and friends. The Tommerups are opening their farm gate for this special Christmas event, giving everyone the chance to experience an authentic farm experience and to sample the amazing local produce that this region is becoming so well known for.

Entry to the farm, farm larder and market stalls will be free, but for a very reasonable admission price visitors can take advantage of the opportunity to join in the farm activities. This is a great way to gain an insight into the day to day life of a real working farm - you'd be crazy to miss out on all the fun. Activities include: herding the cows for milking with Farmer Dave, then being entertained by his stories about dairying as he goes about milking "the girls"; animal feeding (and there's lots to do with calves, chickens, goats and sheep to satisfy); meeting the ever-hungry pigs (have a phone/camera ready because the feeding frenzy is truly comical!) and a farm walk with Farmer Kay as the sun sets. Bookings are essential for Gourmet in Gumboots activities as places are limited - check details on the website.

The Farm Larder will be stocked up with the Tommerup's own range of ethically raised meat products and the region's farmers and producers will be there, selling pastured eggs and chicken, honey, preserves, jams, wine and more.

Sample Norco milks, delight in homemade lemonade, and perhaps enjoy a cheese platter from White Gold Creamery (made from Tommerup Farm's milk). Fresh homemade scones with jam and cream will also be on sale and all of this can be enjoyed in the newly opened picnic area on the farm.

Why not tick off some of the Christmas shopping too? The recently released "Eat Local" book, which celebrates farming in the Scenic Rim region, would make an amazing gift and features many of the local producers - including the Tommerup family. Local delicacies would also make unique gifts or how about a homemade Christmas pudding that's sure to remind the receiver of Grandma's Christmas cooking?

And for the kids - big and little - word's out that Santa will be making his way to the farm for a quick stopover.

Whether you're looking for a fun family day out, a gathering with friends or perhaps an end of year staff party, Gourmet In Gumboots Christmas promises to be a fun event. If you're thinking of staying in the region (and why not, it's a stunning part of the world and is now looking lush, green and picturesque) check out accommodation options at The Lost World website . Glamping will be available at Tommerup's Dairy Farm - limited numbers apply so enquire at the farm beforehand.
