Hosted by the Gympie Regional Council[,
Gourmet and Grooves on Smithfield is being held on Friday 30th November 2018.
Smithfield Street Precinct in Gympie Town Centre has been revitalised into a pedestrian-friendly "Eat Street" for family entertainment with local live musicians, gourmet food trucks, theatre and free children's activities. Held once a month from 5.00pm, Smithfield Street is the place to meet at the end of a working week with family and friends.

During the revitalisation programme, Smithfield Street's landscaping was upgraded to feature 17 trees and more than 1200 native shrubs and groundcovers, which is aiding in cutting cooling costs for shops and business houses. Having an attractive and vibrant town centre also encourages the take-up of vacant premises and entices eateries and shops to stay open longer on weekends. Tourists and locals are now recognising Gympie as an appealing regional hub that connects with their communities providing a safe environment.

The streets now have widened pedestrian footpaths, designed crossing points, improved parking and traffic layout, bicycle racks, bench seats, drinking fountains, outdoor alfresco space themed lighting to create and enhance ambience and wayfinding, better access to shops, Disability parking layouts, bollards and at-grade event spaces. The total project cost was $2,640,000. If you would like to read more on the Gympie Town Centre Revitalisation, click
