The Forever Project will be presenting a Fancy Food Theatre, and this gourmet food event is another hosted by the iconic Perth City Farm, of East Perth. At this one, there will be a brilliant evening in the heart of the beautiful surroundings of this Farm.
You will be able to learn all about the secrets of delicious, nutritious food, as well as the link between healthy soil, and healthy food.
A healthy soil is a living ecosystem in which dead organic matter forms the base of a food web consisting of microscopic and larger organisms.
Together, these organisms sustain other biological activities, and these include plant, animal and human health. Soils also supply nutrients and water, which are essential for plants, and have organisms that interact with plants, for better or worse.
Learn about the part that fertilisers play in these soils and much more.
The event will be in the gardens and here you will enjoy canapes before moving into the stunning historic barn for a three-course sit-down meal, as well as an exciting night of entertainment.
The evening will include a "how to" from the City's gardening experts on growing your own food, improving your soils, and their remarkable chefs will showcase how to cook your own amazing produce in simple and delicious ways.
The MC for the evening will be the ABC's very own James Lush and food will include bush tucker from The Bushfood Experience, artisan beers from 3 Rivers Brewing Company, delicious free-range chicken from Mount Barker, and local wines, as well as hearing all about Chris' new book; A Place in the Country.
There will also be a prize of a $500 Water-wise Gift Pack or the $900 Smart Cara: the innovative bench-top composting system, and you will be entered into this competition.
Tickets are just $99 per person and you can book yours from this
website.
[b]ABOUT PERTH CITY FARM**
They are situated at 1 City Farm Place in East Perth and they are an urban farm that is thriving, and one which inspires people to create and support "sustainable food systems that nourish communities and the environment."
They are a community garden, education and network centre that operates on permaculture principles. Before becoming an organic permaculture centre, the site had been used as a scrap metal yard and a battery recycling plant.
This was then transformed to show how vital agricultural processes could be used to revitalise a city area thus bringing normally opposing environments of city and farm together to be a great working, environmentally friendly proposition.
Their fresh produce, markets and workshops help us make our bodies healthy, and they run several different programmes using innovative sustainable practices. All this in turn helps to make our planet healthier.
The East Perth City Farm was founded in 1994 and was an initiative of the Planetary Action Network (PAN), which was the youth branch of Men of the Trees in Western Australia.
Perth City Farm is not just a farm, but also has an outstanding and popular cafe, nursery, and is a venue for hire.
On Saturday mornings it turns into an organic farmers market, and more!
Their cafe is open from 7.00 am to 3.00 pm on weekdays and Sundays from 7.00 to 12 noon when you can get an excellent and healthy breakfast. You can contact Ayla and Aaron for bookings on 9221 7300.
The actual farm is open 8.30 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday and 8.00 am to 12 noon on Saturday.
The event will be held from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm on 10th May, 2018, and you can see more about food events
