Have you ever wanted to take your dog to a cafe and give them the
full experience of visiting a restaurant, rather than have them sit by your feet and hope that you will be finished eating soon? Look no further -
, Newcastle's first dog bakery, stocks over 30 flavours of homemade dog biscuits, in addition to an extensive (and by extensive, I mean supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-esque extensive!) variety of treats available. Here, it's your turn to sit, wait, and hope that your furbaby has finished sniffing out all the treats they want you to buy for them; trust me - you'll be here a while!
Can you tell me more about ?
Located in Belmont, a suburb in the City of Lake Macquarie, is conveniently located just 20km south of Newcastle's CBD. officially opened its doors in March 2013, although the idea behind the business started more than 7 years ago. Lisa Haynes, the owner of , first started making preservative and lactose-free dog biscuits for her furbaby Samson, a golden retriever, but soon decided to make extra batches to sell at local markets. Lisa's dog treats proved hugely successful, and she soon began wholesaling to retailers, before launching her website, and now a dog bakery. Starting from such humble beginnings, Lisa has grown her business, fuelled by a love for dogs and their health, in order to share her delicious treats that do not sacrifice wellbeing with more and more dogs around Australia.
Are dogs allowed at ?
Yes, they're more than welcome here. In fact, the lucky canine patrons of have a drinks menu that is available for purchase in store but not online - choose from a Liver Latte, Chicken Puppuccino, or a Carob-Banana Muttshake. Drinks cost only $6, with the price including a pupcake of your choice - what a great deal! Eddy opted for the Liver Latte, and we were amazed by the size of it; there was enough for Eddy to slip into a food-induced coma,
and for us to take away a small container too. Eddy lapped it up and couldn't seem to get enough even though he was obviously full - I think we've found a winner.
What treats do have available?
It literally wouldn't be possible to list all their available treats here; you'd have to visit them in person to be able to see their full range. Their range of store-baked dog biscuits, in the shape of a bone, encompass over 30 flavours, some of which I'd never come across before - to name a few, chicken risotto, burgers & mash, broccoli & cheese, and roast turkey & cranberry sauce. Dog biscuits are available for purchase in pre-packaged bags (with resealable zips) in S, L, and XL sized bags (120g, 240g, and 1kg respectively). Alternatively, you can pick and choose from the flavours they have available and create your own selection of dog treats, at $6.00 per 100g or $40 per kg. Eddy and I opted for the latter, as we're always keen to try out as many different flavours as we can!
They also have other freshly baked goodies available for purchase, including hot dogs, pizzas, and mini burgers!
They've got treats to suit the pooches with a sweet tooth...
And treats to suit any pooch really - just look at their selection! If you're having problems deciding which treats to get, has a 'Doggy Sampler Bag', a 'pawsome' selection of over 1 kilos of their treats, priced at just $30.
Does sell any treats for cats?
Although a much smaller selection to choose from, do not exclude felines from their range altogether. Eddy picked up a small packet for our friend Ace - we're sure Ace will love it!
I don't live in the area, is there any way my furbabies can get their paws on some treats from ?

What was your experience of visiting the ?
From the bottom of our hearts, we can say for sure that we
loved it! In addition to the wide range of treats available, the service from Lisa and her team was spectacular - Eddy and I felt very welcome. We were even let in half an hour before the store officially opened, for which we were most grateful as being on a long distance road trip means we are always short on time. To cement our wonderful time here at , we walked away with a bag of tangible goodies. Eddy was spoilt with cuddles and treats; we can't wait to be back!
