Way down in the West End, back when it was a bit shady, a little Adelaide staple of delight started. Past the dark streets of pre-gentrified Hindley St and down the stairs in
Supermild ,
Gosh! was born. 12 years ago this month, DJ Craig started one of Adelaide only indie-rock club nights, so it's time to celebrate in its current home at Jive!!
With a strict guideline of only indie guitar-based music,
Gosh! on a Saturday is really the only place you can get your dance on AND avoid the usual bland pop and rnb star suspects. Focusing on the 2000's and early 2010's, students, pretend adults and triple J fans will find lots of songs to love. Jive is a great bar with a good vibe where anyone can feel comfortable.
April 25th marks 12 years since Gosh! began, so they are having a raucous party to celebrate. The first hour will feature all the best Indie songs from 2003, and the rest of the night DJ Craig will continue to bring you all your other Indie faves. There's movies on the big screen, free foosball, cheap drinks, and dancing all night long…Still only $5, doors open 11.30pm.
Remember, Jive and Gosh! are some Adelaide staples that have been there to support the non-club goers since before the small bar revolution. They're still pretty small! Next time you go on a bar crawl around Adelaide's West End, why not end the night with some of indie rock and pop's greatest hits and support smaller bars that don't get coverage in The City? You won't regret it.
