Give our strays a chance by adopting your pet from shelters
Have you ever thought what you would do if a stray animal arrived on your doorstop, cold, wet and hungry? Well, most likely being the loving, kind-hearted person you are, you would give the animal a bowl of water, some food and try to dry them off with a towel, if they let you get close and perhaps ring the vet or a wildlife organisation.
Sadly, every year in Australia there are approximately 200,000 dogs and cats euthanised in animal shelters and pounds because good homes could not be found.
On Saturday 11th May 2019 at Forest Lakes in Perth, GOSAC Day is occurring to help and save strays. GOSAC (Give Our Strays A Chance) was created by Dean Morris to raise awareness and donations to animal shelters and pounds.
Dean and his family rescued their dog "Hooch" from a country pound on the very day Hooch was to be euthanised. Dean decided to save all the money he received for his birthdays and holidays and bought food and toys for the dogs in the pound. When he visited to deliver the goods, he was horrified by the severe conditions in which the animals lived; the bare concrete floors, small cages and rooms with barely any windows, that he decided he wanted to make a difference. From there, Dean stared GOSAC to raise awareness of how important it is to adopt a stray and donate to animal shelters.
The day's activities will commence at 10.00am and there will be plenty of bunnies, cats and dogs to adopt. Come along and save a furry friend. If you donate goods or food, you will be given a raffle ticket with a chance to win some amazing prizes.
