Recognised by The Guinness Book Of World Records as the planet's 'most successful virtual act', Gorillaz is the creation of Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The eponymous debut album was released in 2001.

Damon will join the visuals for the Song Machine shows, along with a full live band and a number of guest performers. Contributors to the album include Slaves, Peter Hook, Skepta, Elton John and The Cure's Robert Smith.

Gorillaz' debut album was followed by Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010), The Fall (2011), Humanz (2017) and The Now Now (2018). They have won a Grammy Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, an NME Award and three MTV Europe Music Awards. They have also been nominated for 11 Brit Awards and won Best British Group at the 2018 Brit Awards.

Song Machine Live will be hosted by livestream specialists LIVENow whose past broadcasts include Ellie Goulding's Brightest Blue concert at the V&A in London, Serie C and Coppa Italia football from Italy, La Liga from Spain, FA Cup ties and regular matches from the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan.
