Fans across the world can see animated band
Gorillaz perform their latest album at three live online shows, broadcast across three time zones, on December 12 and 13, 2020.
Guitarist Noodle, bassist Murdoc Niccals, drummer Russel and frontman 2D will present
Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez from
Kong Studios in West London. It will be available to view in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North and South America on December 12, and in Africa, Europe and the UK on December 13.
Recognised by The Guinness Book Of World Records as the planet's 'most successful virtual act', Gorillaz is the creation of Blur frontman
Damon Albarn and artist
Jamie Hewlett . The eponymous debut album was released in 2001.
Damon will join the visuals for the
Song Machine shows, along with a full live band and a number of guest performers. Contributors to the album include
Slaves ,
Peter Hook ,
Skepta ,
Elton John and The Cure's
Robert Smith .
Gorillaz' debut album was followed by
Demon Days (2005),
Plastic Beach (2010),
The Fall (2011),
Humanz (2017) and
The Now Now (2018). They have won a Grammy Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, an NME Award and three MTV Europe Music Awards. They have also been nominated for 11 Brit Awards and won Best British Group at the 2018 Brit Awards.
Song Machine Live will be hosted by livestream specialists LIVENow whose past broadcasts include Ellie Goulding's
Brightest Blue concert at the V&A in London, Serie C and Coppa Italia football from Italy, La Liga from Spain, FA Cup ties and regular matches from the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan.
