Impro is what separates us from the animals
Gorilla Theatre™ takes the audience on a delightful and exciting journey, creating original stories and intrepid theatre. Who better to grab the vines on such a journey than Brisbane's impro kongs ImproMafia?

Five improvisers. One gorilla. Three nights. These guys aren't monkeying around.

Lights out, Gorilla theatre

The improvisational format was first created by legendary improviser and Theatresports™ founder Keith Johnstone. This memorable show format has been making people laugh, think and devolve for decades. Gorilla Theatre returns to Brisbane with the best performers that ImproMafia have to offer doing everything they can to woo that judgemental ape.

The players will attempt to out-act, out-direct and out-swing one another in an effort to impress the gorilla via the suggestions given by the audience. Will they open their minds to new ideas or remain marmoset in their ways? Ultimately it's the audience who decide whether or not their improvised scenes were top banana. Only those in attendance will have the opportunity to wield this power, expressing their pleasure via the medium of phallic yellow fruit. Will the scenes be a howler, making them macaquele or will it end up with a banana split? With the ultimate prize of a dream date with the gorilla, Ann Darrow envy will be strong with the eventual chimpion.

Playing for three nights only at Metro Arts, word is sure to travel fast along the ape-line with this one. There'll be barrels of laughs, a pawful of absurdity and maybe even some theatre for good measure. Everyone else is going, so you should too. After all, monkey see, monkey do.
