Hilarious and Quick witted- all that a comedian should be
Going to see a comedian at the Fringe Festival can be pot luck. You never know what you'll get. But Gordon Southern has been tried and tested and the results are he is a multi-award nominated comedian who has headlined shows and festivals around the world and entertained audiences internationally.

Gordon Southern's show, Long Story Short show cases his humorous story telling, observational comedy and quick witted improvisation. Long Story Short is on from the 5th-9th February at Perth's Fringe World Festival 2016.

Broadway Baby (UK) 2014, describes Southern's shows as "Fast-paced, feel good comedy at it's bestů..endlessly funny" and Fest 2014 raves "With spontaneous and hilarious audience interaction throughout. This is a fast, smart and very funny show."

Long Story Short opening night show was highly entertaining as Southern was full of energy and effortlessly bounced off the audience's reactions and comments with humour and quick wit. Who knew Australian's had a unique way of applauding and interacting with stand-up comics but Southern incorporated these nuisances into his show with the skill of a master improviser.

Finding humour in strange topics, as only a great comedian can, in Long Story Short Southern tells humorous stories about cars and how he became a comedian. He explores the life of "childless", or should that be "child free" couples and with sensitivity and humour, relates the struggles of dementia, as only someone affected by this heartless disease can.

There was only one skit in the show with which I was disappointed. In an attempt to push the comedic envelope, Southern went too far with a skit that at best, was not funny and at worst, was offensive. Judging by the audience's lack luster response I wouldn't be surprised if Southern removed this skit from further shows.

That one skit aside, I would recommend Southern's show Long Story Short and trust that you'll be highly entertained by this clever comedian. He is a master of his craft, even if his Dad doesn't recognise being a comedian as a noble profession!
