I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.

The park at Gordon Reserve is located on Lone Pine Avenue near the start of the short walk to Gordon Falls Lookout. It is a place to have lunch with your family and offers all the facilities you need: a barbecue, tables, play equipment and even toilets.
I found parking easy to find on the road (I was here for the waterfall), but there is also a car park specifically for the park. If you're not driving, the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus and Blue Mountains Trolley Tours make stops here, as well as many other major attractions around Katoomba and Leura.
If you're not intending to try and cram a tour of both of the towns into one day, activities in the immediate area around Gordon Reserve include the scenic 1.8 kilometre walk to Leura Cascades (which also has a lot of picnic facilities, but gets quite busy). Expect the trip to take just over an hour and include views of Jamison Valley. A similar distance away is the Golf Links Lookout.
Just up the road are the Leuralla Public Amphitheatre Gardens, where you can enjoy a picnic with the kind of views you usually need to do a hike to reach. It costs $2 entry and is across the road from historic Leuralla itself.
