What’s More Country Than Gordon Country?
This working cattle station, slash 4WD park, slash campground, is located two and a half hours south-west of Brisbane.

The drive towards Gordon Country sees you pass numerous cattle properties and acres upon acres of vegetable farms.

At Gordon Country you have the choice of many pristine campsites (if you ignore the cow pats) located along Dalrymple Creek. We stayed at Bullhole Central Campsite and were surprised to look up and see a herd of cattle cross the creek in front of us and pass by our campsite in search of grass to eat. We awoke many times during the week to find cows grazing around our tent.

Gordon Country offers free hot showers and toilets in some of the camps and they have a shop that sells basics such as ice, milk and bread on weekends at Bullhole South Campsite. There is no phone reception, but the owners homestead is 2kms back down the road if you need help.

We drove around the property and found a cool playground for 4WD enthusiasts that had plenty of short, easy to medium tracks. On the property you will also find the Goomburra Rocky Mountain Climb, which has some extremely steep sections. There is another 4WD Park called Janowen Hills a few kms down the road.

If camping is not your thing, you can sleep in your caravan in one of the powered sites or you can sleep in one of the Gordon Country holiday cabins.

A short drive from the campground is a national park, which boasts rainforest walks and a lookout.

Our dog had plenty to keep him occupied during our stay, from kissing cows to frolicking in the creek.

Even though Gordon Country was quite busy on the weekend, we still had plenty of privacy and didn't have anyone camp within 500m of us. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves during the week.

Your Comment
I was reading other sites and comments on these grounds that are on google, is it true they only take cash (I cant find any details of eftpos or cash on website) and are there problems of a nightime. Your article makes this park look fantastic, but hearing these comments, I want to be sure of facts before travelling from Sydney to Qld to this site. Great article and this area cetainly sounds fantastic by your write up.

Sounds lovely! And made even better by it being dog-friendly.

That cow is quite beautiful, isn't it :)
