Swap Your Old Wardrobe for Something New
I'm sure you and your friends swap clothes or recycle by handing down to others. It is a great way to feel you have a new wardrobe yet not having to pay much for it. Recycling also helps the environment.
On Sunday 24th June 2018 at "Only T" in Brisbane, you can do bring your clothes (both men and women's) along in a tote bag and swap with others. It is suggested that between eight and ten items of clothing would make up a tote bag. If you have more clothes than this, you may like to bring two tote bags. The cost for each tote bag will be $10.00. There is also the opportunity that if you do not have any clothes you wish to swap, you can pay $20 entry and fill a tote bag. All clothes must be in a clean and in a wearable condition. Accessories and shoes can also be brought along, however, these will not be counted in the tote bag's content. No under-garments or swimwear is to be included due to hygiene reasons. Tickets for this event can be purchased here.
Only T is Brisbane's newest creative space where you and friends can get together for a couple of hours and screen print a tee shirt, make a teapot (concrete planter) or take home a tee bag.
Proceeds from the Good Swap event will be distributed between other Good Swap Events and Orange Sky Laundry. Orange Sky Laundry, a government registered charity and was founded by two young men, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett. Based on an idea to help the homeless, they started the world-first program of providing a laundry for people living on the streets, thereby giving them the opportunity to have clean dry clothes to wear. What began as a fun test project has grown nationwide to providing vans across Australia. Orange Sky Laundry has also provided services to those living in the aftermath of natural disasters like the Great Ocean Road Bushfires and in Cairns after Cyclone Marcia. The business was named after the song "Orange Sky" by Alexi Murdoch, in which the song is about lending a hand to those in need.
The address for the Good Swap event is 49 Victoria Street Windsor and commences 10.30am. You may like to off your clothes early (8.30am) and these will be sorted for you. If you have pre-purchased your ticket and cannot attend, refunds are not available, however, you can transfer your ticket to a friend. If purchasing a ticket on the day, please bring cash.
This a magnificent event to get yourself motivated into cleaning out the wardrobe. Even if your wish is not to bring any clothing home, you can still donate clothes to the event by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
