Event:
The Good Shepherd is having a festival day at the Abbotsford Convent where you can join in having a really fun day out whilst assisting others. The Good Shepherd do quite a lot of work to assisting disadvantaged girls and women and this day is to celebrate the 150th anniversary with a free festival: and now it is also helping others, what could be better.

They will have all of the things that make festivals much loved by Melburnians, including free entertainment, guided tours, children's activities and great food and drinks.

The good shepherds festival will also coincide with other nearby events such as the Slow Food Market and the wonderful Winter Solstice Festival held at the Collingwood Children's Farm.

The Convent Bakery is well known for great food. They'll be selling a range of foods, including shepherds pies and bread that has been created using the good shepherds sisters recipes. There will also be a pop-up café and Lentil As Anything will be sharing their "meet the community" afternoon.

One of the fun parts of the day is the good Shepherd Festival passport, where you can take a kind of treasure hunt and go around the convent collecting stamps and learning about their mission.

They are always on the lookout for new volunteers and there will be people at the festival to talk to you about this. If you have some free time and have been looking for ways to assist or volunteer this may just fit the bill

If you do not have private transport, This is no matter as there is a free shuttle bus that will be traveling from Collingwood station to the convent and back every 15 minutes throughout the festival.
