The Passion Narrative Re-told
Pilgrim Uniting Church will hold a Good Friday worship service at 9.30am on April 19. The worship service will include The Passion narrative, of the arrest, crucifixion and death of Jesus, being re-told and interspersed by sublime classical music.
Classical Music Five movements of Giovanni Pergolesi's inspiring 'Stabat Mater' will be woven into the Passion narrative. It is a musical setting of a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion. The Stabat Mater is one of Pergolesi's most celebrated sacred works. He composed it in 1736 during his final illness from tuberculosis in a Franciscan monastery in Pozzuoli, and, as it is said, finished it right before he died.
