Everything and everyone has a story...
Published February 22nd 2021
In 2020, a deliberately lit fire tore through the Happy Valley Shopping Centre, destroying several of the local businesses. One of those was Gooby Goose.

In an already tumultuous year, they were left without a shop-front to serve from, and so set up temporarily in the back left hand corner of Foodland. On January 29th this year, however, their revamped space reopened to the public - and it looks significantly different from before.

Located beside the Magain Real Estate office and with ample parking all around the shopping precinct, Gooby Goose now has more seating both indoor and outdoor, and it boasts a welcome window at the front that is a bar-like set up, where you can bring a laptop to work on while you sip your coffee. Inside, the coffee machine and delicious food display are further along the freshly painted wall and there is now both a front and rear entrance, so they're hard to miss if you're wandering around.

If you're someone you likes to support local business, this is the place for you. You'll find delicious, substantially sized coffee, tasty and unique treats as well as efficient and friendly service. It's a little difficult to keep your 'social distance' if you're sitting inside, and while there is still no space to bring in a pram or a wheelchair, the outdoor seating area allows for these sorts of things. If you come before midday, you can enjoy the shade from the shopping precinct's verandah, but if you come in the afternoon, just remember to bring your sunnies, so you can soak up the rays while you eat and drink.

If you really love your coffee, Gooby Goose might just be the place that you learn how to brew a professional cup yourself, too.Their head barista has been in the coffee industry for over a decade, is an accredited trainer and has competed in coffee-related competitions both nationally and internationally - and she can teach you her art form as they offer barista and coffee education courses after hours. Check out their Facebook page for more.
