It's the morning of Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary, and things should be rosy in their big new house on the banks of the Mississippi River. The trouble is this: Amy is missing, and it looks like Nick did it - his alibi is shaky and he's clearly lying about something. All the while the police and media in their small Missouri town are closing in on him - even Amy's adoring parents think he did it. Despite his lies, Nick tells the reader he had nothing to do with the disappearance of his fun, beautiful, intelligent, all-rounder wife.

The novel weaves Nick's story between parts of Amy's diary, revealing a crumbling, troubled marriage, a distant husband and a seemingly upbeat wife who appears resolute in making the marriage work. However, gradually Nick's lies start to unravel and we realise that things are not as they seem. Amy is a golden girl who is adored by everyone. Everyone, except her husband. But he says he didn't do it. So who did?

Written by New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn, this undeniably clever thriller is packed with twists and turns that will have you eagerly turning pages until the wee hours of the morning. The psychological dimensions of the characters are so deeply woven and believable that you won't be able to put this magnificent novel down.
