Located within Adelaide CBD, The Golden Wattle not only offers dishes that can be expected to be seen at a pub but also various dishes that can be expected to be seen at more upmarket settings. For those that are interested, the restaurant also has a selection of specials listed on a board close to where you place your order.
One of the specials available during our visit, the rump steak in their Steak with German Potato Salad was tender and had a charred flavour. Though whipped fetta was included in the sauce used to dress the potatoes, the creamy taste was actually quite mild; great for those concerned that it might be too strong for them. A scattering of what seemed like watercress gave the dish a fresh appearance.

For a dish listed as a starter, the portion size of the Tamarind Chicken Wings was quite generous. We were delighted that the flesh of the chicken wings was succulent and set off wonderfully by the crisp coating. The Asian salad accompanying the chicken complemented it nicely but be aware that the tamarind sauce glazing the wings has quite a good amount of spiciness.

While the menu description may not suggest it, their BBQ Squid was presented similarly to a salad with chargrilled squid on a bed of salad greens. The chargrilled squid was not too tough and had enough charred flavour to make eating it a satisfying experience. A notable part of the salad is the inclusion of orange and blood orange slices whose sweetness balanced out the bitterness of what seemed to be red lettuce.
Diners who choose to visit The Golden Wattle during breakfast time can enjoy a Bacon and Egg Roll and Coffee for only $10. This offer is only available before 11.30am. The Golden Wattle's location makes it a convenient place for office workers to drop by for delicious pub and Australian food, or just for a drink with friends.
