I truly believe flapjacks are under-rated as a quick easy and child friendly treat that is perfect for a whole host of occasions. This is a traditional recipe for Lyle's golden syrup flapjacks, but you can afford to be a bit more creative and add dried fruit, cinnamon, chocolate chips or check out my recipe for chilli and cheese flapjacks on my profile. It has to be tried to be believed but trust me, they are so good providing you don't overload on the chilli.

Cheap and easy, this recipe makes approximately 12 flapjacks.

What you will need:

150g butter (melted)
75g of brown sugar
3 tbsp of Lyle's Golden Syrup (just to make them sickly sweet)
250g rolled porridge oats
2tbsp of flour (plain or self-raising) This does sound a little odd but it makes the flapjack a little cakey and more gooey.

**What you need to do
**
1. Firstly, get organised, preheat the oven to 190c and grease a 20cm baking tin (I use silicone trays for baking as they are so easy to wash up afterwards)
2. Melt the butter and sugar gently as well as the golden syrup
3. Stir in the rolled oats and flour and mix well
4. Pour into the well greased baking tray and spread evenly
5. Bake for between 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Don't forget to leave them to cool before cutting into them. Enjoy!

What are you thinking of adding to your flapjacks?
