The Theatre Organ Society TOSA (SA) is celebrating 50 years in South Australia with a wonderful weekend of variety concerts featuring the theatre organ in the Capri Theatre at Goodwood, from Friday night, 21 August to Monday 24 August 2015.

Friday night, 7.00 pm, Barry Hall, who is well known around Adelaide, will host the evening, showcasing some of our local artists from 21 years and upwards. They are all local artists who play at the Capri regularly.

For over 20 years Barry was the announcer on 5 DN's afternoon request program Choose Your Own. As the Music Man Barry made regular appearances on NWS 9's children's shows including The Channel Niners, Stars of Tomorrow, and the national series, Here's Humphrey. Now in his 80's Barry is still very much in demand as an entertainer. Barry often plays the Wurlitzer Organ at the Capri Theatre.

A special event will be the screening of the historic footage with images and sound from major events in TOSA's 50 years showing the purchase and installation of their first theatre pipe organ purchased from the Plaza Theatre in Melbourne and then installed in Wyatt Hall at Pulteney Grammar School in 1970.

In 1974 the organ was purchased by the Capri Theatre and fortunately removed only a few weeks from Darwin before Cyclone Tracy destroyed the city. Over the next nine years the organ was restored and subsequently installed in the Capri Theatre, which had been purchased by TOSA SA to house the organ. The screening will also highlight the improvements to the organ and the restoration of the theatre as well as visiting international theatre organists and the enthusiastic and energetic team of volunteers who keep the Capri operating.
