Award winning Golden Monkey is best known for its one of a kind cocktail menu, its decadent Asian tapas selection and its beautiful oriental décor with lounges and 1920's style opium den. The venue provides an intimate setting, hidden underground in Melbourne's popular Hardware Lane (off Lonsdale Street, CBD).
Golden Monkey gets very busy, so if you want a good spot it is best to book an area in advance. The menu boats a range of traditional dim sum, tempura and seafood dishes, whilst the cocktail list is full of must-try concoctions like Ying to the Yang, Green Ninja and the Kung Fu Pandan, all stirred to perfection using the freshest of seasonal fruits purchased daily and home made syrups.
Hardware Lane owes its charm to bars like this. The buzzing and vibrant lane attracts people who appreciate the warm and relaxing atmosphere of Golden Monkey, which despite being so hidden, is always busy and bustling. Outdoor seating is always heated during the winter and the luxurious lounges make the bar great for all occasions, whether it be a quiet drink with a friend or a big party with a large group.
If you like bars which offer something different to your standard, forgettable venue, Golden Monkey should be on your list of places to go. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the friendly service, to the extensive menus and exceptional décor. Located in the heart of the CBD, it makes an ideal venue, whether you're jumping from bar to bar or planning your whole evening there.
