Reopening dates for the Gold Coast's popular theme parks
Ever popular theme parks across the Gold Coast were forced to close in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, many have begun to announce their reopening in line with the new COVID-safe plans they have needed to develop before welcoming guests back inside.
The Gold Coast theme parks have begun to announce their reopening dates
Village Roadshow's parks will be the first to reopen. However, each of their theme parks will take a conservative approach and only allow up to 50% capacity at each until further notice. Additionally, extra sanitation measures will be introduced, and guests will be required to remain 1.5 metres apart from each other.

Guests will also be asked to download the new Village Roadshow App. Guests using the app will be able to prebook rides and enter more streamlined queues for them. Village Roadshow's theme parks hope to return to full visitor capacity in time for the September school holidays.

However, visitors who wish to visit Dreamworld and Whitewater World will need to wait a little longer. Ardent Leisure who operates these two theme parks has announced that they will confirm their reopening dates once the Queensland Government confirms the reopening date for Queensland's borders, although their Skypoint Observation Deck at Surfer's Paradise will reopen on 10 July 2020.

Once the date has been announced, Ardent Leisure's COVID-safe plan will allow Dreamworld and Whitewater World to operate at 50% capacity initially. Like Village Roadshow's theme parks, they hope to be operating at 100% capacity in time for the September school holidays.

The reopening of the Gold Coast's theme parks will be a major step in the revival of the region's tourism with locals, Queensland tourists, interstate visitors, and people from overseas frequently visiting at least one of the theme parks during their time on the Gold Coast.
