Since its inception the Gold Coast Show has been bringing communities and families together, through entertainment, competitions, equestrian events, art exhibitions, and delicious demos that'll have your mouth watering in delight.
In true Gold Coast style, this year's show will present fashion parades, and dance displays, wowing crowds with their moves. Keeping to the more traditional part of the Gold Coast Show, equestrian events will be held, along with the wood-chopping, though they've seen a few fingers. These activities will keep you busy enough during the day, and tire out the children, but after dark is when the magic happens.
Floor shows, rodeos and fireworks will keep any age group from sixteen to sixty entertained as they party the night away. Unfortunately all of the wonderful entertainment from the Gold Coast Show will come to an end in 2013. In a bid to promote the Gold Coast Hospitality and Tourism Industry, the Commonwealth Games have been selected to run at the Parklands Showgrounds. Not only does this mean the end for the Gold Coast Show (with over 50 years of history behind them), the Big Day Out will also be pulled from the Showgrounds to make way for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
On the upside the Gold Coast Show and its contingents have been offered a spot near Carrara Stadium, though most of it is floodwaters and thus, the Show will have to be modified. So make sure you grab your tickets and experience some of the Gold Coast's local history for its last years of country-fun and entertainment.
