Forget the beach and head to the Gold Coast for rides, showbags and fairy floss. The is on 29, 30 and 31 August at its new home at Gold Coast Turf Club and Showgrounds, Racecourse Road, Bundall.

With a motto of "way too much fun", visitors can't help but enjoy themselves. The Show is filled with the usual rides, sideshow alley games, fireworks and many many showbags.

The is the largest community event on the Gold Coast, and one of the biggest in Queensland annually.

Everyone's favourite, the woodchop, is back again, so be sure not to miss it. My family loves to grab lunch and eat their hearts content while watching the axemen battle it out to be the best.

It's always a tradition to wander around and look at the displays, and this year again there will competition displays from the entrants in horticulture, photography, painting and drawing, cooking and visual arts. Wander around the entrants and see if you agree with the judges on who should be a winner.

Unfortunately, this year there will not be any equestrian or horse events at the show. The organisers advise that their new facilities are not yet in premium condition so the safety of the riders and horses cannot be guaranteed, therefore they have elected not to hold any equestrian this year.

Miss Showgirl and Miss Showteen will be walking around to say hello to the everyone, as well as roving entertainers who are sure to keep the kids amused.

[ADVERT]But the biggest fun for most families are definitely the rides and showbags. Friday and Saturday night the show comes alive with its bright lights, ride music and screams of joy as visitors brave the speed and spins of the many rides.

When you're exhausted and you can't possibly do another ride, the showbags will keep the kids and big kids amused. There is nothing better than sitting down on the grass at the end of the day going through the goodies in all of your showbags and swapping your favourites with siblings, friends and cousins.

This show promotes many local business and is great for tourism each year. Visitors can enjoy browsing the hundreds of stalls and marquees exhibiting local products, there's sure to be something that takes your fancy. With motoring on display, check out the vintage cars. Tourism is also a highlight with many exhibitors promoting their products, and some giving free giveaways.
