Gold Coast Potters are hosting the second Mother's Day Art & Crafters Market Day, at their Benowa premises. It's set to take place the week before Mother's Day, so you have the opportunity to shop for gorgeous hand crafted gifts. Mother's Day in 2013 is held on Sunday 12th May and the Market Day is on Sunday 5th May, from 9am - 2pm. This market is fairly unique in that only locally made art & crafts are allowed.
So what can you expect on the day? Stalls will be set up at the Potters and Sculptors Corner (corner Ashmore Rd and Carrara St, Benowa), transforming the grounds into an outdoor marketplace, giving you the opportunity to browse and shop for items such as pieces of jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, wood turning.
Live entertainment provides the atmosphere for shopping, eating, chatting and relaxing. Roam'in Pizza will have breakfast of bacon and egg wraps, as well as wood fired pizzas on sale. The sausage sizzle is hard to resist when you smell them cooking. The coffee van will be there and the cake stall has a well-deserved reputation for the best cakes in town.
Kids will enjoy the Play with Clay table that let's them get hands on and creative. There will be demonstrations by Potters, Woodturners and Sculptors. You can stop and watch their demos and ask any questions.
For those who can't think what to buy for their mum, take her with you if she lives on the Gold Coast. Enjoy a morning out together and ask her to choose something. The atmosphere is lovely and the creative talents of all the stallholders makes for a wonderful array of goods for sale. The beauty of a hand-crafted piece is that each item is different, as they are not mass produced. The photos speak for themselves and give a taste of the quality of work for sale.
The collection of handcrafted gift stalls will include: pottery, wood turned works, sculptures, jewellery, hand sewn and hand knitted work, preserves, cakes, paper creations, handbags and home wares, children's clothing, aprons, beanies, scarves, cards, tee shirts, honey products, teacups and candles, light catchers, toys, art works…and so much more. All are made by local art & crafts people.
